How to care for your limestone jewelry

1. Handle with clean hands

Your limestone has been coated in a thin coat of polyurethane to protect it and make it easier to clean, but that won’t protect it from everything.

2. Gently wash with mild dishsoap

Mild dishsoaps have a pH of 7 to 8, which makes them a neutral cleaner. To remove fingerprints or dirt, use warm water and dishsoap.

3. Don’t bring it in contact with acids

For instance, vinegar or acetic acid would damage the piece. Limestone is calcium carbonate, which breaks down into CO2 when exposed to acids. It will bubble when it’s exposed.

4. Store it separately from other jewelry

Because it’s a light and relatively soft stone, any tarnish from other jewelry could rub off on it or mar the surface. Simply storing it separately will greatly reduce the risk of it needing a professional cleaning. In the box you received your piece in, there should have been a small poly bag and a silver polishing cloth (for polishing silver only). Use the poly bag for storing.
